Michelangelo Cicogna graduated in Law at the Milan Catholic University and engaged in lecturing activities at the same University at the faculty of Philosophy of Law.
After a number of experiences in law firms specialising in IP, white collar criminal law and commercial law, Michelangelo Cicogna won a scholarship at the Milan Chamber of National and International Arbitration where he worked from 1997 to 1999 handling arbitration and mediation cases.
In 2000, he joined the Firm, where he became a partner in January 2003.
Michelangelo Cicogna has an extensive expertise in the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) field, is an accredited Mediator with the Chamber of Commerce in Milan and the Italy-China Business Mediation Centre and frequently acts as mediator and arbitrator both in administered and ad hoc procedures.
He teaches mediation and negotiation techniques (with more than 800 mediators trained so far), is a frequent lecturer and panellist as well author of various publications on the subject including one of the most popular handbooks for mediators in Italy.
Michelangelo Cicogna advises large Italian and foreign multinational companies, the chief areas of practice being international business law, arbitration and employment law.
He sits in the Supervisory Board of Nokia Siemens Networks S.p.A. established pursuant to legislative decree no. 231/2001.
He is in charge of the Moscow office of the Firm.
Michelangelo Cicogna is a member of AIJA (sitting in the Executive Committee), the World Forum of Mediation Centres, where he chairs the Working Group on "Good Practices in Mediation", the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA - YIAG) and the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA - below 40), YAAP and ICDR Y&I.
