Paolo Barbanti Silva, partner at De Berti Jacchia Franchini Forlani, has gained significant professional experience over decades mainly in capital markets, banking regulatory, private equity, debt restructuring and M&A.
Paolo, who is also a member of the New York Bar, worked for the Bank of Italy, for a commercial bank, and, among others, for two Italian leading law firms, following major operations of private equity, capital markets, and debt restructuring transactions relating also to listed companies.
He acquired solid experience in transactions such as public takeover bids and investment transactions in listed companies with takeover exemption (such as investments in distressed companies as part of debt restructuring processes), listings, capital increases of listed companies including regulated companies, acquisitions of major stakes in regulated companies, and extraordinary transactions related to listed and/or regulated companies.
Paolo also followed asset management companies (SGRs) and institutional investors in acquisition transactions by reserved mutual funds, particularly in the real estate sector. He also assisted listed and regulated companies in ordinary operations, such as the preparation and conduct of shareholders’ meetings or transactions with related parties, as well as in dealings with the Supervisory Authorities with whom he has consolidated mutually respectful relationships over the years.
He was appointed by IVASS (the Italian Supervisory Authority on insurance companies) as a member of the supervisory committee of two insurance companies in compulsory liquidation.
