On 22 June, Michelangelo Cicogna was among the speakers at International Arbitration 2026, the conference organised by the Practising Law Institute (PLI) in New York under the scientific leadership of John Fellas, one of the leading international conferences dedicated to arbitration.

Michelangelo took part in the panel discussion “Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe”, alongside Michael Granne, Oliver Armas and Kabir Duggal, Ph.D., SJD, exploring the growing impact of artificial intelligence on international arbitration proceedings.

The discussion focused on the use of AI by counsel in international arbitration, the role of artificial intelligence in arbitral decision-making, and the potential regulatory frameworks governing the use of AI by parties involved in international arbitration.

Held both in person in New York and online, the conference brought together practitioners from different jurisdictions, providing a valuable forum for discussing the opportunities and challenges that technological innovation is bringing to international arbitration.

On 4-5 June 2026, Michelangelo Cicogna took part in the 7th edition of Bucharest Arbitration Days, held at the InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest.

The conference, titled “Evidence in International Arbitration: Evolving Principles and Practices”, brought together leading arbitration practitioners, academics and policymakers to discuss the evolution of evidentiary practices in response to technological innovation and procedural reform.

The programme explored a range of key issues, including the admissibility of evidence, legal privilege, standards of proof, digital and AI-assisted evidence, data integrity and cybersecurity in international arbitration.

Michelangelo participated as a speaker in the panel “Why Evidence Still Matters in International Arbitration: Relevance, Reliability, and Persuasion”, alongside Daniel Levy, Myung Ahn Kim and Therese Isaksson, with the discussion moderated by Leon Kopecky.

Over the past few days, our firm participated in the Interlaw 2026 EMEA Regional Meeting in Dubrovnik, hosted by Law Firm Glinska & Mišković Ltd.

Among the highlights was the session “Energy Sharing in the EU: Updates and Implications”, which sparked a dynamic discussion on the rapidly evolving regulatory and market landscape for energy sharing and renewable energy communities across Europe.

Antonella Terranova, in her role as Global Leader of Interlaw’s Competition & Distribution Special Business team, chairs and moderates the session together with Michel Vandersmissen (Janson) and Dr Slobodan Doklestic, LL.M. (Doklestic Repic & Gajin). It was explored the key opportunities and challenges shaping the future of the European energy sector.

A big thank you to the distinguished speakers, Isabelle Gerkens (Elia Grid International (EGI)) and Jean-Philippe Desager (UNI Energy), for sharing valuable, practical insights from both the transmission system operator perspective and the renewable energy community advisory side.

The discussion also provided a great opportunity to reflect on the competition law implications in the energy market and the impact of emerging energy-sharing models across Europe.

On 15 May, the event “How Junior and Senior Lawyers Can Cooperate in the Current Digital Era” took place, organised by the International Bar Association (IBA), hosted by the Consiglio dell’Ordine degli Avvocati di Roma (Rome Bar Association) and supported by AIJA – International Association of Young Lawyers and ASLA – Associazione Studi Legali Associati.

Held in the prestigious setting of the Italian Supreme Court, the conference explored how junior and senior lawyers can effectively collaborate in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, examining the opportunities and challenges brought by artificial intelligence and emerging technologies within the legal profession.

The event opened with welcome remarks by Alessandro Graziani, Chair of the Rome Bar, and Claudio Visco, President of the IBA. The programme featured contributions from Manuela Cavallo, Mauro Corselli, Luca Andrea Frignani, Alessandro Pesa, Ajra Azhar, Daniele Bartoli, João Coriel, Massimiliano Danusso, Maximilian Marmor and Paul Marmor, who shared their perspectives on innovation, intergenerational collaboration and the future of legal practice in the digital era.

Our Chiara Caliandro, together with Gianmatteo Nunziante, served as Event Co-Chairs, while De Berti Jacchia co-hosted the networking coffee break alongside Sherrards Employment Law Solicitors and Chiomenti, providing participants with an opportunity to connect and exchange ideas in an informal setting.

On 28 April, ANIMA Confindustria in Milan hosted the event “HK Northern Metropolis: A Strategic Roadmap for the Italian Construction Supply Chain”, organised by Invest Hong Kong in collaboration with De Berti Jacchia, ANIMA Confindustria, DHH LAW FIRM and Sviluppo Cina.

The event provided an opportunity to explore the business opportunities arising from the Hong Kong Northern Metropolis, one of Asia’s most ambitious urban development projects, with a particular focus on the prospects for Italian companies operating across the construction supply chain and looking to expand into international markets.

The discussion featured contributions from Carmelo Ficarra, Diana Yang, Alessandro Durante, Massimo Paolini, Massimo Caiazza, Massimiliano Gazzo, Luo Cheng, Fion Leung, Stefano De Paoli and Diego Conte, who shared insights into the project’s business potential, the relevant legal and regulatory framework, and market entry strategies for Hong Kong.

The event brought together institutions, professionals, and businesses, fostering dialogue on the opportunities for collaboration between Italy and Hong Kong in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
